Neale re-signs with Dockers until 2019

AFL: Fremantle midfielder Lachie Neale is understandably in demand, but he reckons speculation linking him to a move to Melbourne was “garbage”.

Averaging a league-high 32.8 disposals a game in 2016, the 23-year-old has been a revelation as his Dockers (3-10) have struggled.

And while there may have been a temptation to move back home to South Australia, Neale finalised a deal to stay in Perth until at least 2019.

“It’s been a bit of a process, but we’ve got there in the end,” Neale said. “I’m really looking forward to the next few years at the club. I’m here to win games of footy and I see that happening in the future.”

Neale, drafted in 2011, said “loyalty” was a big factor in his decision.

“I was a pretty late draft pick (No.58), so they took a chance on me and to repay them as well was another factor,” he said.
