New K hub store opens in Roma
Roma shoppers will officially be able to shop at “Australia’s most loved brand” with the new Kmart concept store opening today.
The K hub outlet officially opened to locals at 9am after a refurbishment of the former Target store.
Six new jobs were created in the transformation from Target to K Hub and all former Target employees opted to transfer to the new store.
Tim Watson, Store Manager said having a K Hub is extremely exciting for Roma and brings confidence to the community that new stores like this and IGA are opening.
“The transition went really smoothly, so we were very fortunate,” Mr Watson said.
“My first thought when I heard about the K hub was that it would be really exciting for the town.
“I mean this is the most loved brand in Australia at the moment so everyone is really excited.
“I was speaking to Tyson (mayor Tyson Golder) and how it is showing a lot of confidence in the community that there’s a new K hub and IGA opening, so there’s a real buzz around in town.”
The K Hub store will carry Kmart’s more popular products across its various lines.
A lovely treat meant the first few customers through the door were greeted with a cupcake made by the team at the Mitchell Bakery with the new logo.
The major changes follow the decision by parent company Wesfarmers last year to close up to 75 large format Target stores and Target Country stores permanently.
In May last year the company announced up to 92 large format Target stores and Target Country stores could be converted into Kmart branches.
K hub customers will be able to pop in and visit the teams instore, shop Kmart’s entire product range online using home delivery.
They will also be using the K hub as a collection point for Target Click and Collect orders too - giving customers easy access to two of their key Kmart Group brands.
