No Power outage for Port Adelaide's star skipper

Port Adelaide has received an early Christmas present with skipper Travis Boak extending his contract until the end of 2019.

And more festive cheer could be on the way with exciting youngsters Chad Wingard and Ollie Wines expected to follow suit this week.

Boak, who had been courted by Geelong during the 2012 season, said the extension would ensure he finished his career with the Power.

"I don't expect to go anywhere … I absolutely love this place and would do anything for this club, and that's certainly what I'm trying to do now," he said.

"It'll take me until I'm 31, so I'm getting over the hill then and it's tough to play footy after 30."

Wingard and Wines, two of the best young players in the competition, are off contract at the end of 2016, and the skipper said he was hopeful of some good news on that front.

"It will be a huge plus for this club if we're able to get their signatures," Boak said.

"The way we're building the brand of the club, and internally the expectations … and what we stand for, I think we've shown we've been able to hold our players.

"Fingers crossed that happens (this week)."

After narrowly losing the 2014 preliminary final to eventual premier Hawthorn, Port was expected to be one of the teams to beat in 2015. But a mid-season slump proved costly, the team finishing ninth to miss the finals by one win.

Boak said that disappointment had stung the players who were determined to set the record straight in 2016.

"We were extremely disappointed with the results this year and we've got so much more to prove," he said.
