A SUNSHINE Coast woman has returned home to find her dog stabbed in the chest.

Shalmaine Friedrichs said she and her partner returned to their Kuluin property on Wednesday night to find their dog Pebblez "unable to walk and the deck covered in blood."

"Noticing a large puncture on her chest we raced her to Tanawah emergency vet," Ms Friedrichs wrote in a post on the Sunny Coast community board.

But it wasn't until they returned from the vets and investigated how she'd hurt herself that they discovered she'd been stabbed.

"When we got home we tried looking for where she could have done this but the blood was all over our deck only.

"My partner found one of our knives that [is] usually on the BBQ on the pool table of the deck with blood on it," she said.

Ms Friedrichs reported the incident to police and the RSPCA but has publicly asked Sunshine Coast residents to "keep an ear out".

"Can everyone please keep an ear out and let me know any information or contact police and quote the police report number QP 1600601232."

Ms Friedrichs said Pebblez had a 10cm deep wound that the vet worked on until the early hours.

"Home and resting and on lots of medication inclusing loads of cuddles and kisses," Ms Friedrichs wrote on Facebook. Shalmaine Friedrichs | Facebook

Pebblez was discharged on Thursday morning but Ms Friedrichs she was weak from all the blood lost.

"Hoping for a quick recovery," she said.
