LETTER: Clive Palmer demonised for starting his own party

CLIVE Palmer, love him or hate him, his media persona largely formed by headlines is different to public appearances.

He is in fact articulate and knowledgeable and does not use notes when he answers questions... so why is he so hated?

Firstly, he dared to form his own political party. Like others before him, this will lead to his demise.

His life is front page news always negatively portrayed.

The Nickel mine needed to shed 247 workers due to a fall in nickel price worldwide. Front page news, yet, today in The Daily, Shell announces plans to cut 10,000 workers as profits drop to $6.2 billion due to falling oil prices.

This news only makes it to page 38 under share prices. Mines all over Australia are shedding hundreds of workers. So what is the difference?

Clive's support to both major parties in the past was acceptable as he was their dollar man.

Now he supports his own party and he is demonised. Who would want to stand for public life?

To have any hope of surviving you have to support the two major parties and tow the party line.

PAMELA WRIGHT, Bokarina
