Paroo Shire CEO quits the top job

CEO of the Paroo Shire Council, Emil Moul, has resigned from his role overnight, after only six months in the top job.

In a statement, Paroo Shire mayor Lindsay Godfrey said the job "wasn't the right fit" for the former CEO, but his parting with Council was agreeable.

"Of course we would have preferred the CEO role be filled for a longer period of time however, Paroo Shire just wasn't the right fit for Emil," Cr Godfrey said.

"All parties want the best for Paroo, and both Council and Emil feel that him resigning as CEO is the most suitable way to achieve this.

"We appreciate the work Emil has accomplished during his time at Council and we wish him well for his future endeavours."

Before his term on the Paroo Shire Council, Mr Moul was interim CEO of East Arnhem Regional Council; he also served in executive roles on Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council, and Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council

The Council will now appoint an interim CEO, and start the recruitment process for a permanent one.

Council confirmed it will advise the public with each new appointment.
