Passion for breed sees limousins head to Roma

AFTER years of absence, limousins will head back to the Roma saleyards.

There will be 28 bulls on offer from 1pm Friday, when the Roma Industrial Limousin Sale gets underway, from three vendors.

AJ Riley, from Ray White Rural, will be the auctioneer at the event and support his parents, who are selling a few cattle of their own.

"We've got Oakvale from Coonabarbran, AT from Ballandean and Benjarra from Clifton. I've known the vendors for a while,” he said.

"I do breed a few limousins myself, I'm pretty passionate about the breed.”

Mr Riley said it was the first time the breed had been up for sale in a number of years, following a rough few sale seasons.

"Twenty-eight is a pretty good starting number... it will be a good number to get a couple more back in the area,” he said.

"Hopefully we can keep this going every year and get a few more limos back in the area.

We're looking to sell them for $4000-$7000 per head but some might get a few more.”
