Paul Pisasale ‘not in a good way’, brother says

PAUL Pisasale's brother says the embattled former Ipswich mayor is "not coping" with mounting legal and health problems, in the wake of a Crime and Corruption Commission investigation and separate criminal charges for extortion and assault.

Charlie Pisasale, who remains an Ipswich councillor, said he visited Paul at a Brisbane health facility this week.

"He's not good. He's not in a good way at all," Charlie said. "He's got a long way to go. The problem he has is that he just doesn't listen and that has been the case for a couple of months."

Paul Pisasale resigned on June 6, due to ill health, the day after the CCC raided his home and office. Weeks earlier he was stopped at Melbourne airport with $50,000 in cash, which he was allegedly carrying for a friend. He faced court on June 21, charged with extortion and assault.

Charlie Pisasale said his brother, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, would fight the charges, but that his health was the family's main concern.
