Qld Govt delays Uber solution

THE Queensland Government has delayed addressing the Uber issue for almost another year, establishing a long-term review to look into how to provide regulatory balance between established taxi industries and "digital disruption".

The war between the heritage industry and ride sharing services erupted into violence earlier this week, with three men allegedly targeted and assaulted for being Uber drivers.

The government responded by announcing a review into taxi, limousine and ride sharing services, with former Director-General Jim Varghese to report back in August next year.

The state's taxi strategy is due to expire at the end of this year.

The status quo will continue until the end of Mr Varghese's review.
