Queensland to tackle NSW for NRL finals

MIKE Baird, Annastacia Palaszczuk wants you to know Queensland is coming for you.

Or at least, is coming for the rights to host a NRL grand final.

Queensland has been in discussions with the league over bringing a final to Suncorp Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 52,500 in 2020 or beyond, with the NSW $45 million six-year deal due to end in 2019.

It's not the first time Queensland has chased NRL's biggest prize - the Bligh Government attempted to woo the NRL north of the border in 2010.

But Mr Baird believes Sydney should be allowed to hold on to the finals for another 20 years, along with guaranteed State of Origin games.
