ROCKHAMPTON police yesterday identified the human remains found in Park Avenue on Saturday morning as that of missing Allenstown man Syeid Alam.

The 33-year-old man was discovered around 9am that morning on the edge of a creek near where it joins the Fitzroy River which backs onto Glenmore Rd.

"At this stage it is early days of our investigation, but a post mortem will be conducted tomorrow morning which will reveal further information," Det Snr Sgt Moon said.

"As I say, we treat every case as suspicious until proven otherwise.

"We have to await for experts to assess how long the body may have been there.

"I make no comment regarding anything found at the scene, we are still in early days and await our post-mortem."

Mr Alam was reported missing by his family on April 6 and police confirmed his vehicle, a black Toyota Camry Grande was found about one week ago.

Police urged anyone with information to come forward.
