Resources royalties splash but still no Acland decision
THE State Government is no closer towards making a decision on the controversial New Acland stage three expansion.
Minister for State Development and Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham, in Toowoomba yesterday, said he continued to receive briefings on the Land Court's recommendation that the expansion be denied.
"I have to be fully informed before I make any decisions regarding the New Acland Coal mine," he said after announcing $30 million in resource industry royalties for the south-west region.
"I am receiving briefings from my department. I want to be fully informed before any decision is made."
Dr Lynham said part of the $2.99 million announced for Toowoomba yesterday would go towards shoring up water supplies at the Wellcamp Enterprise Hub on the city's western fringe.
"The whole precinct needs that infrastructure, that security to enable the Wellcamp industrial precinct to grow and thrive," he said.
A major share of the funding went towards a new museum at Eromanga which he said was "already an outstanding education and tourist drawcard".
