REVEALED: When Roma’s new supermarket will open
Roma residents have been eagerly waiting for over a year for their new supermarket to open, and now an opening date has been revealed.
The existing IGA on Arthur Street will be closed from January 20, 2021 and a big sale has been announced in the lead up.
Cornett's Supermarkets CEO Graham Booyson said they'll be closed for six weeks before opening up the new store.
The new supermarket will need to be furnished and stock will need to be moved between both buildings.
Then the existing IGA will be demolished and turned into a carpark.
But after that, locals can shop at the new Cornett's supermarket from March 17.
"Roma's been good for us," Mr Booyson said.
"We enjoy trading at Roma, we enjoy the customer base, and we're really excited to present a new supermarket as an alternative to Woolworths."
The new store will support between 50 to 60 permanent jobs.
