Robbie Farrah to have scans on injured shoulder

NEW  South Wales captain Robbie Farah will have scans today on the shoulder he injured during last night's thrilling 11-10 State of Origin loss to Queensland at ANZ Stadium.

Farah was slammed in the ground in a heavy 28th minute tackle by veteran Queensland centre Justin Hodges who made an eye-catching 178 metres for the Maroons who now go to Melbourne's MCG next month in the box seat 1-0.

Despite knowing he shoulder was busted, Farah made 61 tackles, just two short of the Origin record of 63 which he owns.

When asked about the tackle NSW coach Laurie Daley said he would leave it to the match review officials whose only charge from the torrid 80 minute battle was a grade one lifting on Blues forward Trent Merrin.

Merrin opted to take an early plea and will not miss a game.

Winning coach Mal Meninga didn't see a problem with Hodges's tackle.

"It was a good tackle, wasn't it," said Meninga.

"There was no illegality there at all. It was just an aggressive tackle from a guy who wanted to play well."

Meninga was full of admiration for the courage shown by centre Greg Inglis who spent three days in hospital last week on a drip being treated for a severe case on tonsillitis.

"He's a bit self critical about some of the things he did tonight but to drag himself out of bed, he was pretty crook.

"But you're not going to talk Greg Inglis out of putting a maroon jersey on and playing in this team.

Queensland skipper Cameron Smith, who ploughed through 56 tackles and organised his side's attack, warned the series was far from over.

"Teams have come back from 1-0 down," he said.

"It was always a huge challenge for us to come down to Sydney where we don't have a great record and game one is crucial.

"It was nice to come away with a tough win because lots of times there we were out on our feet but somehow we found a way to win."

Meninga who has won 18 of his 28 Origin games since taking over in 2006, said the quality of his champion side had come through again.
