Roma police investigate four break ins, in four days

In just four days, Roma police officers have investigated a spree of break and enters, which saw property set on fire and a handbag stolen while the homeowner was asleep, sparking officers to issue a warning to locals to lock their doors, even if they’re home.

At 10am on Friday, January 8 officers allege unknown offender/s set fire to a pile of sticks and other items before attempting to burglarise a home on Foott St.

Offender/s allegedly broke the fly screen on the rear window of the dwelling.

Police are still investigating this matter.

Later that day, at 8pm police received a call from a concerned neighbour who witnessed three people wearing dark clothing leave a house on Luff St.

Police allege all draws inside the home were opened and rummaged through.

At this stage, it is unsure how many items were stolen.

In the early hours of Sunday, January 10, offenders allegedly entered a home on Foott St and stole a handbag from the master bedroom, while the owner was asleep and the other occupant was watching TV.

The unknown offender/s allegedly stood on a chair at the rear of the home and used garden shears to cut the fly screen to enter the house.

The handbag was dumped on the driveway and the contents were stolen.

Police are also reminding residents to lock their windows and doors even if you are at home.

Between Saturday, January 9 and January 11, unknown offenders allegedly entered a vacant property on Luff St.

The unknown persons allegedly used an implement to break the side door before graffitiing and damaging the property.

The investigation is still ongoing.
