Roma school and Origin three year partnership

Roma State College has signed a three year partnership with Origin Energy aiming to improve academic achievement, career aspirations and employability to encourage future employees to remain living and working in the Maranoa.

Developed through a consultation process with staff from each campus, Origin employees will support and help co-ordinate the delivery of over 40 initiatives, creating a sustainable school and business partnership.

Origin Energy believe the partnership will assist the college in driving diverse educational growth in the Maranoa to help improve education outcomes for students.

Infrastructure improvements, professional development, improved technology, sporting equipment, pathways for employment programs, various in-kind support including mentoring and volunteering opportunities for students, are just a few of the initiatives included.

Roma State College Principal, Guy Hendriks said he’s very excited about the partnership.

“This partnership allows us to drive opportunities for our students to enhance their skills through knowledge sharing with Origin, helping them to be better prepared for when they leave to find employment or undertake further study,” Mr Hendriks said.

David Atkin, General Manager Spring Gully, Denison, and Pipelines Asset for Origin Energy said he is looking forward to seeing how Origin can help enrich the school curriculum, expand opportunities for students and add value by complementing existing services and operations.

“We are looking forward to a long term partnership with the school that will allow the

teaching staff to structurally build in the opportunities that Origin and our contractors can provide, with the aim of enhancing educational opportunities and outcomes for students in our local community,” Mr Atkin said.
