Small show still a boost for Cunnamulla
COMMUNITY spirit was at the heart of the 65th Cunnamulla Show, with the small event becoming a testament to the volunteers who were determined to see it run.
"It is hard times, our town has been going through drought for a little while now, and we've had a bit of rain, but unfortunately it doesn't rain money or lots of grass,” said Cunnamulla Show Society secretary, Amy Palmer.
"We sort of expected it would be a bit quieter this year, and because of that, tried to make sure that there was free entry, and there was good funding to provide a great community event for everybody, and encourage them to come out and see that Cunnamulla is still going strong.
"It has been a lot harder than other years because we haven't had the treasurer's role filled, but we have managed, and worked together really well as a team.
"We actually had our previous treasurer, Jessie Thompson, help out behind the scenes too, and are really grateful she could do that.”
