South Australia posts $355m surplus
THINGS would seem to be going well financially for the South Australian Government, which posted a $355 million budget surplus yesterday.
Premier Jay Weatherill announced the result was up $43 million on last year's budget prediction for 2015-16.
It is the first surplus for the state since 2009, and comes along with a $500 million health package to offset Federal Government budget cuts.
State Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis told The Australian he was disappointed neither the Coalition nor Labor had promised to reverse the $57 billion cut from hospitals and schools in 2014.
