Siege ends with police storming Brisbane apartment

UPDATE:  Police took the man into custody just before 6am on Friday, after specialist officers stormed his apartment block.

The man was found to be unarmed and he is now being examined by a mental health team.

Another man who was within the residence left voluntarily before 6am. He has been transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for assessment.

 

Streets closed as police surround a man claiming to be armed

POLICE are currently at an address in Bowen Hills where a man has made threats and claims to be armed.

Around 9.30pm, last night a man contacted police claiming to be at an address in Jeays Street and armed.

Police attended the residence and established a cordon around it.

Police are currently negotiating with the man and have been unable to substantiate his claims to be armed.

Currently, Hamilton Place is closed to traffic between O'Connell and Campbell Streets and Jeay Street is also closed with traffic diversions in place.

There is no further information at this stage.
