Student stabbed at QLD primary school

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with assault after an alleged stabbing at Dakabin State School in Brisbane's northern suburbs. 

The incident reportedly took place in a year 6 classroom at 2pm yesterday.

"Police attended a wounding incident yesterday at an educational facility in north Brisbane," a police spokesman said.

"As a result an 11-year-old male has been charged with wounding and common assault.

"An 11-year-old male was transported to Redcliffe Hospital for treatment to a leg wound."

News Corp reports the school's principal, Kelly Jeppesen said: ""School staff immediately contacted emergency services and acted quickly to provide first aid."

She also said counselling would be made available to students.
