Suspended jail term for stealing four T-bone steaks

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman has been given a suspended jail term for stealing four T-bone steaks from a Bundaberg grocery store.

Nicole Noreen Fisher pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court to one count of stealing after she put the four individually portioned steaks into the bottom of a pram on November 20 and left the store without paying.

Fisher denied stealing the meat when confronted by a security worker and fled, but she was later identified by CCTV footage.

The court heard Fisher had lost her bank card and had no money to pay for the $80 worth of meat.

She was sentenced to one month's jail, which will hang over her head for four months.
