The 6 Cs of engagement ring shopping
ATTENTION all gentlemen thinking of popping the question.
Here are the six Cs of engagement ring shopping, thanks to Dracakis Jewellers.
Certification
It's crucial when choosing a diamond to look at the diamond certificate which is a grading report referred by diamond grading laboratories. Dracakis only sells GIA or AGS certified diamonds, all of which come with certificates.
Carat
The easiest C to consider, carat is actually the weight of the diamond, with one carat being the equivalent of 1/5 of a gram. The price is exponential as the bigger the diamond the more rare it is.
Clarity
Clarity can be confusing and when selecting the diamonds for your ring, it is important to work with a jeweller whom you can trust and can show you the significant differences in the grades given to different stones. Almost every diamond will contain some blemishes and the diamond clarity grade refers to the visual impact of these characteristics or lack thereof. For example, flawless stones have no inclusions or blemishes.
Colour
The colour of the diamond is quite simple, it refers to the colouration of a white diamond. The whiter the diamond, the greater its value as it allows more light to pass through it and emit more brilliance.
Cut
Theo believes Cut is one of the most misunderstood of the C's as it refers to the 'make' or quality of the diamonds proportions, not just the various shapes that diamonds can be cut into. Cut is entirely manipulated by the diamond cutter and will further determine the value of the diamond.
Cost
Theo and the team at Dracakis will work with you personally to select the finest diamonds that fit your budget and create a custom-made piece that is as eternal as your love.
