The number of animal cruelty cases in Murweh towns

Data from the RSPCA has revealed complaints of cruelty in the Murweh region have fallen over the past year.

RSPCA Queensland’s Inspectorate and Rescue services were still on “full throttle” in a year that was consistently referred to as “unprecedented”.

Across the state, RSPCA Inspectors investigated 17,146 complaints about animal cruelty and neglect and ambulance officers attended 29,072 rescues.

“It’s still been incredibly busy but number of jobs has decreased slightly from last year which I guess is a glimmer of hope,” RSPCA Qld spokesperson Michael Beatty said.

“Last year Inspectors investigated 18,681 complaints and ambulance officers received 29,865 call-outs.”

Charleville topped the list again last year, however saw a decline with three complaints made, compared to nine in 2019.

In total, four complaints were made in 2020 across the Murweh, down from 2019’s 10.
