Thieves targeting Roma homes in broad daylight, thousands stolen

Brazen thieves are striking Roma homes in broad daylight, as a spate of break-ins has resulted in thousands in cash stolen from residents and property damaged.

Police believe they know the three alleged offenders who broke into a home on Gregory St and damaged several items last week.

About 2pm on Thursday, February 11, three teenagers entered the dwelling and used an unknown object to damage a motorbike putting a hole through the motor then before damaging a ride on mower.

Police said the occupant of the home disturbed the three and they ran away.

The investigation is ongoing.

Between the hours of 10am and 12.30pm the following day, February 12, unknown offender/s allegedly stole $2000 from a home on Howard St.

Police said the offender/s conducted a messy search of the home.

The matter is still being investigated by police.

As a reminder, police are urging all residents to lock their house and car doors, even if home and to keep valuables stored away.
