UPDATE: Christmas power outages sweep across two Maranoa towns
Power has been restored to over 600 households after a blaze torched the outside of a Roma power pole on Christmas Day.
Ergon Energy crews quickly responded to the outage and had the pole on the corner of Charles and McEwan streets fixed by 4pm.
While the wooden pole has been scorched on the outside, repair workers believe it is still stable and secure, without damage to the inside foundations.
Roma crews now have to make their way out to Mitchell to attend another Christmas outage affecting up to 35 buildings.
As Roma residents celebrate Christmas after a very long and hard year, the town has been struck by a sudden and unplanned power outage.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said they were called to a power pole fire on the corner of Charles and McEwan Streets at 2.55pm on Christmas Day, December 25.
Ergon Energy has crews on scene who are working to restore power to the affected areas.
They are still unsure about what time the power will be switched back on.
Ergon is still working to fix the outage and QFES have left scene.
