Why I support vegan sausages at Bunnings Warehouse

A TOOWOOMBA woman has declared her support for vegan sausages at the popular Bunnings Warehouse sausage sizzles.

A petition is gaining support calling for vegan sausages to be an option at all sausage sizzles.

Dean Maher has attracted 9612 supporters in his bid to give vegans an option at the great Australian tradition.

"It's 2017. Not only are vegan sausages delicious but they are healthier, have a much smaller environmental footprint and no innocent animal had to suffer! It's a win win."

Now Toowoomba woman Marilyn Orr has backed his call.

"Why was there resistance to ethical eating at the sizzle in the first instance?

"To be against veganism is to be for violence to animals.

"We purpose breed them for the sole purpose of killing them and eating their bodies, and using them for clothing and entertainment. "

She said slaughter could never be humane.

"It is an act of violence. We can live healthy lives without eating their bodies, or using them in any way."

Ms Orr said veganism was not a choice, not a cult nor a diet.

"It is the rejection of violence to animals, those within our power.
