Woman in critical condition after being hit by car

POLICE are investigating a serious traffic incident at Algester in Brisbane this afternoon after a car hit a woman trying to cross the road.

Around 1pm, the car travelling along Algester Road struck the female pedestrian as she attempted to cross from the median strip.

The 42-year-old pedestrian was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical injuries.

The driver, a 41-year-old Calamvale woman, was also taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for observation.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact local police or Crime Stoppers.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
