UPDATE (WEDNESDAY 9AM): POLICE are hunting a knife-wielding robber who allegedly held up a Maryborough motel early Tuesday morning.

A second man, 39, was last night being questioned by police.

A police spokesman said two men armed with knives stormed into the Maryborough City Motel about 3.30am Tuesday and threatened a 35-year-old female worker.

The men searched a room before fleeing with a quantity of cash.

Officers from the Maryborough station and the police dog squad were involved in the search.

EARLIER (TUESDAY 8.30AM): POLICE are investigating an alleged armed robbery in Maryborough earlier this morning.

Police allege the 39-year-old and 47-year-old men entered a Ferry St motel armed with knives at 3.30am this morning and proceeded to threaten a 35-year-old woman at the property.

After searching the motel room, the men fled on foot with cash.

Police investigations are continuing.
