Woody Allen’s paternity bombshell

WOODY Allen has reacted to persistent rumours that Ronan Farrow's biological father was Frank Sinatra, not him, saying he believes the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist is his "but I wouldn't bet my life on it".

"In my opinion, he's my child," Allen, 82, said in a profile of his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, that New York magazine published Sunday on its Vulture website.

"I think he is, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. I paid child support for him for his whole childhood, and I don't think that's very fair if he's not mine," the four-time Oscar-winner said of his son with actress Mia Farrow.

Allen also hinted that Farrow, 73, was unfaithful throughout their 12-year relationship, the New York Post reports.

"She represented herself as a faithful person, and she certainly wasn't. Whether she actually became pregnant in an affair she had…"

The Rosemary's Baby actress married Sinatra on 19 July 1966 - when she was 21 and he was 50 - and they divorced two years later.

Farrow blamed the demise of their union on their vast age difference, but they remained close friends until the singer died in 1998.

She was later married to André Previn from 1970 to 1979.

In 1980, she began a relationship with Allen, and Ronan was born in December 1987.

When asked by Vanity Fair in 2013 whether Sinatra was Ronan's dad, she responded: "Possibly".

Ronan, 30, later joked on Twitter: "Listen we're all possibly Frank Sinatra's son."

A Sinatra biography published about three years ago said there was no way Ronan could be the legendary crooner's offspring because Sinatra was impotent and incapacitated by stomach surgery around the time of Ronan's conception.

This isn't the first time Allen has expressed doubts about Ronan's paternity.

"Is he my son or, as Mia suggests, Frank Sinatra's? Granted, he looks a lot like Frank with the blue eyes and facial features, but if so what does this say?" he wrote in the New York Times in 2014.
